Electric field fluctuations in the two-dimensional Coulomb fluid

The structure factor for electric field correlations in the two dimensional Coulomb fluid is simulated and compared to theories of dielectric function. Singular changes occur at BKT insulator conductor transition, as well a higher temperature correlation transition between poor electrolyte perturbed Debye-H\"uckel fluid. Structure factors are found differ canonical grand ensembles, with showing full ensemble inequivalence. We identify mechanisms `underscreening' `pinch point' scattering that relevant experiments on ionic liquids artificial spin ice respectively.
